Frequently asked questions

Is this salary slip generator really free?

Yes. You can create and download unlimited salary slips as PDF without signup or payment. The free version carries a small ApnaSalary.in line in the footer of the PDF.

Is a salary slip generated online legally valid?

A salary slip is valid when it accurately reflects the salary paid by the employer and is issued by the employer. Computer-generated payslips without a signature are standard practice in India — most companies add the line 'this is a computer-generated document'. What matters is that the details match actual salary records.

What should a salary slip include?

Standard components: employee name and ID, designation, pay period, earnings (basic salary, HRA, conveyance, special allowance), deductions (PF, professional tax, TDS/income tax, ESI where applicable), gross pay, total deductions and net pay. PAN and UAN are commonly included too.

Why do I need salary slips?

Salary slips are required as income proof for home, car and personal loan applications, credit cards, visa applications, and background verification when switching jobs. Banks typically ask for the last 3 months of payslips.

Is my data uploaded to your server?

No. The entire tool runs in your browser using JavaScript. Names, salary figures and PDF generation never leave your device.

How is PF shown on a salary slip?

Employee PF contribution is 12% of basic salary (many employers cap it at ₹1,800/month on a ₹15,000 basic under the statutory wage ceiling). It appears under deductions. The employer's matching contribution is part of CTC but does not appear as a deduction on the payslip.
